Epic Films. @ 8:41 am

I finally got to watch the movie 300 and I love it! Absolutely love it. Love the storyline and I love the cinematic shots. Led me to do a lil bit of research on the epic battle between the Greeks and the Persian Empires. Sometimes, history can be interesting you know.

But the Greeks have too many wars to keep up with. Anyhows, I intend to catch the original movie which inspired Frank Miller (Creator of 300) - The 300 Spartans. Somehow I feel as tho' I might've watched it when I was little.

Ought to be good.

One thing I was shocked to find was that this good-looking Brazilian actor below, was the guy who became the gay Kumar-lookalike Persian King, Xerxes. Amazing what prosthetic makeup can do to you.

How did this...

become this??? Ok lah, got some similarities.

If you find the actor so disturbingly familiar, he acted as Laura Linney's love interest in the sweet movie, Love Actually.

So there.

And yes, being a film lover, I enjoy watching this type of genre too. Having a vast interest has made me learn a lot of things. Thank God I don't just go for romantic flicks because life would've been super sappy. There's something about the war scenes that gives me the goosebumps.

The love for this kind of epic films probably went back to my younger days, and perhaps I got that trait from my dad too. He would watch these movies and I would sit with him and ask him lots of questions. Then the VCD era came and conquered the world, and he would buy the special editions and Gold vcds and we would watch it over and over again.

5 'and's in one sentence. Wow.

Remember the classic Clash of the Titans? I love that movie too. I still remember the walking skeletons and that irritating Medusa. Lord of the Rings too, altho' it doesn't fall under epic films. Other favourites include Ben Hur, The 10 Commandments and of course... Muhammad, Messenger of God (aka The Message).

I'd say, the history of our Prophets are most intriguing to watch. Of course, that is subjective.

It's interesting to learn how one empire triumph and how one falls. The honor and sacrifice those warriors carry with them is incomparable. And politics at that time is nothing compared to now either.

Ah... I love that walk down memory lane. One day, I would love to watch them all over again.
