Flying Solo @ 8:50 am

To all you Singletons out there, Happy Single's Week!!! You solos rock! Take the time out to appreciate and savour all the time and privileges you've had - will still have - might still have... while you still can.

And so since it's the Single's week, heaps of articles in relation to the topic have been appearing on several known websites. And I, being quite free, like to start my morning by reading instead of doing what I'm suppose to do.

Yes, so I read Sumiko Tan's (writer with Straits Times) article titled, A Woman needs a Man. I don't have to go deep into it, you get the idea just from the title itself. She's just like me. Really. When I read that article, I thought to myself... Oh no I don't want to be 43, single, miserable and full of regrets like her.

While there are many consoling articles on why singles should be happy or why singles should stay single, that article is the truth in that it speaks of what singles really want in their lives. A best-friend 24 hours.

Of course lo and behold, a companion that fits you perfectly is hard to find.

There's nothing wrong with being self-sufficient and independant but we, solos, really don't mind sharing with you our remote control or our food or our *ahem* affection.

For me, I can even give you the entire television set together with the remote and stereo set for superb sound effect cos I got enough tv sets at home to have one all to myself. So, really, I don't mind the remote.

As much as I am a cynic, I have to - cough - agree with her, who was also once a cynic.

Me. I'm just too cautious for my own good. And I don't feel the need to rush into one blindly, if I don't feel connected with him.

But for many of us, it's the problem of finding or for some, ending up with the right one. What I realise tho' is that time is not the essence when it comes to relationship. Whatever it is, it's always important to have back-up, just in case - you know - things don't turn out well.

For all that's worth... don't forget to love yourself. But please don't be an idiot and evolve into a narcissist.
