Childhood Adversities. @ 2:26 pm
Source: Asiaone NewsOne of the subjects I'm focusing on this semester was anything to do with children and their childhood, so naturally I was saddened when I saw this news. It's a tragic case of suicide that explains one of the adversities children in this century are facing.
This wasn't a case of parental pressure but pressure she put on herself instead. And when she didn't achieve the 4As she had aimed for, she committed suicide. The amount of disappointment she had in herself must have been so great that she simply could not live with it.
It this what the world has come to? The society stresses so much on distinctions, chasing papers and flying high that it has implied some negative effect onto these children. What the hell happened to childhood? What happened to fun and laughter and games and play?
Is life all about good grades? Is that what you would take your life for?
The society and MOE (locally and globally) should really look into their school system. It's essential to sustain these children's only right - their childhood. While they still have it.
While I'm at it,
good luck to all the PSLE students who will be getting their results this Thursday.
It has been 11 years since I got mine and I remember even tho' I didn't score all distinctions, I was still being loved and praised
(a kiss on the cheeks and a hug) and even got a chic discman from dad
(it was the "in" thing at that time) and an organiser
(which I still keep) from my mom.
It was one of the most happiest days of my life.
Not all happiness are written on paper.
